Game lodge inside Balule Game Reserve with riverbed views and 9 private cabins
Location & Setting
Greenfire Game Lodge sits inside the Balule Game Reserve, a private reserve bordering Kruger National Park. The lodge is raised above a dry riverbed and watering hole, allowing guests to watch elephants, giraffes, and zebras drink from the deck or pool. Hoedspruit Airport is 25 km away, and the lodge offers airport pickup and drop-off services.
Accommodations
The lodge has 9 individual cabins, each raised on pillars and overlooking the riverbed. Every cabin includes a private patio, a sofa, and a bathroom with a shower, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and large windows for direct views of the bush. The cabins are equipped with air conditioning, heated blankets, and insect nets, but WiFi is available only in the main lodge building.
Dining
Breakfast offers a cold buffet plus made-to-order eggs, and lunch is served buffet-style with salads, pasta, and grilled items. Dinners are three-course meals using locally sourced ingredients, and once a week the lodge hosts a traditional South African braai (Boma dinner) under the stars. The bar serves wine, cocktails, and soft drinks for an additional charge, and special dietary menus are available upon request.
Game Drives & Activities
Game drives run twice daily in open vehicles, with a maximum of 9 guests per vehicle and the same guide throughout the stay. Guides such as Given, Selby, Victor, and Ishmael offer deep knowledge of animal tracking and bush ecology, and drives do not go off-road to protect the terrain. In addition to drives, the lodge offers a bush walk, a shared lounge with a fireplace and library, and a viewing deck overlooking the reserve.
Family-Friendly
Children can participate in a Junior Ranger program with a question sheet about wildlife, reviewed by the owner Carol, and earn a headlamp as a certificate. The outdoor pool, sun loungers, and sun terrace are available for daytime relaxation between drives. Accommodations include twin-room options for families, and the lodge's small size (18 guests maximum) ensures individual attention for all ages.
